I never host any. I organised my own housewarming once...no-one turned up. I've never organised one again - just not my scene. Most of my friends are on the net anyway.
The only party I really host is the New Years Eve party here at the hotel. I invite loads of the regular customers, plus any residents staying then sell tickets to others. It's a joint NYE party and my birthday party. Some years are great fun others not so much so. This year will be the first time I have attended with alainn_mactire as my partner. Last year I hosted the party briefly and then left to spend a little bit of time with her
After I make the aviation fuel, at some point in the night, someone will announce to those still standing not to go into some room because such-and-such and what's-his-face are in there...being busy...doing something...they need to be alone...just knock...just don't even go up there...
So far, I've never had a party I hosted bomb. Some parties have been wild and obnoxious, some have been low key but loads of fun. The parties I host usually start out with dinner. I love to cook and I invite as many people as I can. It's usually after dinner when the fun starts! But it's been a while since I've hosted a party. :-p
When we host, we HOST which means I'm typically hummingbirding all night long, making sure everyone is fed and hydrated and having a good time. Some people would find that draining but I love the stress, the details.
And there's always that ONE moment where I catch a glimpse of my love or my wee ones that feels out of body, viewing them as an outsider. I stop admist the buzz of it all and smile and wonder how I got so damned lucky.
Making people feel at home in my home is something I really like to do. Stop by on Christmas Eve - we're hosting. =)
I don't host parties, i go to parties. However, if i was gonna host one (and had the money to do it) i'd totally rent a huge cabin by a lake, stock it with stuff that a wild&fun party should be stocked with (everything from food to condoms), and proceed to not shock the neighbors 'cause there won't be any!
It would be FANTASTIC.
I'd not only play hostess, but matchmaker, 'cause one of my skillz is hooking people up with each other. I could be a wingwoman, but there's not really a business for that in these parts.
The drunker people get the more randier they are ;] Well, When myself, Mel and Carlene get drunk we usually end up dancing on the bed and then dry hump each other as if we're doing a porno and the boys stand around open mouthed and drooling.
