Question of the Day

Who was your best friend at school, and are you still friends?

It was C... And we're meeting up at the weekend!

Ummm...from when?

My longest-lived best friend (lmao) from school was Dena. We became best friends our sophomore year of high school, and were best friends for about 23 years. I finally got fed up with the way she was letting her life run her; when she was ON the wagon she needed me to be her one and only friend (and I wasn't allowed to have other friends), when she was OFF the wagon, I wasn't good enough to be her friend because I wasn't a cokehead. I got sick of rescuing her and having her tell me if I didn't send her thousands of dollars she was going to kill herself...hell, if I'd had it I would have been using it to better my life and my children's, not feeding her coke habit. The last time I think I actually spoke to her was probably about 10 years ago; she had invited my daughters to her daughters' birthday party (their birthdays were a day apart or something like that) and when we got there, she wasn't there but the kids were. We waited about two hours for her, with her mother throwing a fit because we were there, and finally went to see if we could find her (the kids said she and their father (her ex #2 out of 3? 4?) had gone to the store). Couldn't find her, came back and they were there (they'd been off having sex in the car; she was still married to husband #3), but she said we couldn't stay for the party but we were welcome to leave the gifts we had brought. Was that the only reason we were invited? For gifts? We left and I haven't spoken to her since. She called my late husband after I had my son, but I never called her back. Ran into her at the mall maybe 3-4 years ago; her daughters came up to talk to me. The two daughters from her third marriage, not the two from the second. I think it was the third marriage. I dunno. I don't think I really care.
