The Watch

Surprise surprise... Israel rules out talks with Hamas.

It doesn't surprise me that Hamas won. People in the Palestine are very angry, and very oppressed.

They may feel like they're trying to get someone with teeth into power, but what use are teeth if the other guy has a gun?

They're going about this the wrong way, and it'll end in blood.

I used to defend the Palestinians, but right now, all I feel is pity for the children. This will give too many people a reason to blow shit up.

I've yet to be convinced that there is actually anything holy about the Holy Lands. Alot of blood over a lot of rumors.

The only way it'll end is in a terrible tragedy...

more and more i am beginning to think the world is doomed. maybe it no longer matters if humans are bent on killing each other or not, because we've started irreversable changes to our planet that will probably kill us all anyways.

i'm pretty much through with concern for making the world a better place beyond my country's borders and i'd like to stop worrying about world events. it's hard to have continued compassion for a species that is so stupid, so "inhumane".

I agree... but you can't help but feel that innocents are going to get hurt in this...

i dunno... we'll see if hamas can play nice diplomatically or not. if not then perhaps the people who elected them will suffer, as will everyone else.

It'll definitely be interesting to see.

I don't think that the world is doomed; I mean, hell! Even if we do manage to nullify all humans, life will go on without us. Humans aren't bent on killing each other, they're bent on thriving. When one group keeps another from getting what resources they need, that's when fighting manifests. It's always been that way! Ask any historian. It's cyclic. Either war or disease will lower our numbers. We'll go through another Dark Age, then another Renaissance and it will start all over. Future historians will say, "Once there was The Great Library of Alexandria, and after that, there was The Internet..."

As far as not worrying is concerned, that's easy: stop watching the news. That shit will give you cancer. Watch comedies instead. After I got out of the army, I stopped looking at the news and never looked back since. Getting hung up on the world's problems is like getting hung up on one's own mortality. I like doing what I can for folks when I can; otherwise, I follow the wisdom of The Specials: "Enjoooooy yourself! It's later than you think..."
