Oh yeah. :) And it varies so much. I have a friend whose ultimate comfy blanky book is Stephen King's "It". Mine? Hmm... If I had to pick a comfy blanky book, it would be the entire Belgariad series. hehe

OMG... I dunno if I could possibly remember that. [thinks] I remember a few books that I have my first memeories of, but couldn't tell you which one was absolutely first.
I know "Little House on the Prairie" was one of the group. As was "Godsfire" (http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/f/cynthia-felice/godsfire.htm)from my grandparents' collection of sci-fi. I do believe my favorite book from the time I could remember, though, was "Little Women." :D
I cannot remember the first book I read, it was probably something like Enid Blyton or something equally as ancient. I tend to like crime/thriller and action/adventure stories. I love sci-fi as a film genre but have never really managed to get into it as a book type.
I have been reading some fantasy books lately, called the wheel of time by Robert Jordan and I am finding those quite enjoyable. I didn’t enjoy, nor couldn’t get into the Lord of the Rings although I have read and did enjoy the Hobbit.
I have 4 of the books, took me ages to get into to be honest but after i finished the 1st one i found myself reaching for the 2nd, and i am now on the third.
Honestly, I have no clue. I used to read books in piles.. LOL. I remember one summer when I was like 10 I read over 30 books. It was something the local library had going and I went there every three days and picked up a bunch of books to read. But novels, I have no idea what my first one was. Though I do remember reading a book about the boogyman and was overjoyed when I read they only go after little boys who were bad, NOT girls! LOL
I'm sure there were lots of kiddie books in the Dr. Seuss vein, but the first I remember reading was Red Badge of Courage. By the time I was 12 I'd read 50 classic novels.
I honestly can't remember. However, I was the type of child that had a book anytime we went anywhere. I even preferred reading to watching television. Obviously, I read many books. My parents probably almost went broke trying to keep me in books. Especially once I got older and started reading series. :)
I have been trying to remember my first book. I used to read constantly when I was little, books were all over my room. I read the entire Little House on the Prairie series, along with The Secret Garden, Stuart Little, James and the Giant Peach (that was my favorite I read it at least 10 times), Heidi, Black Beauty, Dear Mr. Henshaw, The Ramona Series was also my favorite.
I cannot emphasize enough the power of reading, books are sacred and golden. They have to power to change lives. My father used to buy me books for Christmas every year. If it was not for him I would have missed out on a lot of classics. I thank him and my mother for instilling in me the gift of books and reading. Unfortunately as an adult now I do not read much. I miss it though, it feels as if I am not fully living. Seriously your questions make my brain tingle, you are awesome!
Thank you for always making me think and feel with your questions of the day! Have a great one yourself!!
i THINK the very first book i read was the Secret Garden and then James and the Giant Peach. As I grew older I became increasingly interested in wwII stuff... I read Night, Anne Frank.. etc! I miss reading for fun. I'm stuck with text books and DAT prep books... my head hurts!

I can't remember my first one exactly but the ones that started my love of books is Black Beauty, The railway Children, Secret Garden, Oliver Twist, Heidi. A couple of classics I can't remember but I've kept them. They are in a box somewhere over my parents house in the attic.

I'm a fan of the Wheel of Time... I even had the pleasure of meeting Robert Jordan a few years back when the 5th or 6th book came out...
