Question of the Day

If I was coming over to visit you, what would you cook for me, or where would we go eat?

[identity profile] spacedlaw.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
First you'd get the third degree grilling from me:
Things you are allergic to ? Can't eat/won't eat ? Would rather avoid if given a choice ? All the way down to spices...

[identity profile] ccupguy.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Considering the pictures of dishes you have posted in the past, I think I would let you tell me what ingredients to get and I would let you do the cooking. ;)

You beat me to the best answer!

[identity profile] smwright.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
I would definitely be taking you out (big surprise there, no?), and I'd most likely take you to Sidewheeler (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g54187-d436316-r5979454-Sidewheeler_Restaurant-Conway_South_Carolina.html) in my little town. If not there, then probably Thoroughbreds (http://www.thoroughbredsrestaurant.com/). Two that are at least worth the time and money. :)

Easy. Maryland steamed crabs. (Only a troglodyte would boil a crab.)

[identity profile] evergladesqueen.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Geez, this is a tough one being that you make such yummy food. I would probably have to make a cuban dish for you and then give ya some cuban coffee.
*hugs*

[identity profile] chiropteraclan.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I would hope that you would come for a long enough visit that there would be time for both!!! So the answer is yes.

home made cheese enchiladas.

Sticky rice and spicy food at the local vegetarian buffet in Vientiane.

[identity profile] saare-snowqueen.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well.........on the first night we'd eat at home. As it's you, I'd probably make whatever I'm fooling around with at the moment - Pureed summer courgette soup with yogurt, herb & Parmesan cheese muffins, followed by boned leg of lamb stuffed with a mushroom duxelle and roast potatoes. Dessert at the moment is ginger flavoured custard fool with rhubarb puree.
P.S. This will probably be my Christmas menu for this year.

On the 2nd night I'd take you to my friend Bill's Italian restaurant La Perla which has been voted the best Italian restaurant in Estonia. Bill is an ex-FBI agent who grew up helping his family run a Sicilian-American restaurant in Boston's North End and if we're lucky and he's around he'll tell us stories of his life.

Croquettes!

And Tiramisu for dessert .. yumm ;)

[identity profile] kalquessa.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Chicken lo mein or fried chicken, depending on how you feel about Chinese food. They're both a little more labor-intensive than I like for everyday fare, but they're perfect for a special occasion.

[identity profile] donnickcottage.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd have to try something English/Indian, like ginger glazed roast beef with cardamom Yorkshire pudding... or maybe just curried bangers and mash:)

[identity profile] amante-donne.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I would do the Risotto I posted the other day OR if off out there is the resturant in Covent Garden, I think it is called Sapori or smething like that, Italian gaff, lovely.

[identity profile] anemone58.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I would take you to downtown LA at my favorite breakfast spot, The Pantry.

Best freakin pancakes in the world!

[identity profile] sirenity.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sushi!

I've taken everyone who has ever visited me here for sushi. It's simply the best.

[identity profile] heardthatnoise.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
How long are you coming to visit? I have a list of places to take you. Then I'll cook for you one night if you cook with me one night. ;)

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
:D

Depends on what we're cookin' ;)

[identity profile] mishi-ragdoll.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I can't cook, so I would take you to this Thai restaraunt called Pam's. It's known all over NY as one of the bests restaraunts, the food there is just delectable. I'm sure you'd love it!

[identity profile] mysticpickle.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd probabally cook what ever you liked best that I knew how to make. If we were going out to eat I'd have to say Blue Nile.

[identity profile] childeofloki.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Sharis.

[identity profile] gsharper13.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Portillo's or maybe Der Rathskeller

[identity profile] empatia.livejournal.com 2007-10-03 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
We would have to make something completely orginal and spicey and crazy, I don't know what it will be but it will have something to do with chicken and steak together and cheese...*smiles* oh yeah it will be good.

[identity profile] dolorinterno.livejournal.com 2007-10-03 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] uawildcatgrl.livejournal.com 2007-10-03 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
salad, chicken cordon blue, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, brownies

(If we went out...I'd let you choose the place)

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-10-03 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds delicious!

[identity profile] xavierism.vox.com (from livejournal.com) 2007-10-04 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmmmmm...I'm not shure where I'd have you treat me for dinner. I'll have to think about this and get back to you!

[identity profile] eternalxwhisper.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'd find out if you liked Japanese food and take you to a little Japanese restaurant down the road that does a wide variety of Japanese cuisine.

[identity profile] eternalxwhisper.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ew! Yes they do Sushi. I'm not a lover of fish. The presentation of the meal is beautiful. I love it there. I only ever eat Miso Ramen or Katsudon. My brother is the adventurous one when it comes to trying new foods so I get to try a little bit of his to see if I like it and then I'll have a another dish to add to my list of things I love from there.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I love seafood :D I think I may have to plan a trip!

[identity profile] eternalxwhisper.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. You should just for the food! It's called The Ichiban Sushi and Noodle Bar Japanese Restaurant. I know we have a couple of them here in Wales. You could do a search and see if there's any near you.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I think there may be one in Birmingham :D
