Question of the Day

What is your work ethic?

Work smarter, not harder :P

Do the job in front of you.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Good one :D

[identity profile] amante-donne.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I like your ethic.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I fear I inherited a rather puritan work ethic from my father. I have a very hard time not working....I feel guilty when I relax or play, especially if I have not completed all my work first. I know that this is not healthy. It's deeply embedded in me, and something I continually struggle with.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That can be stressful :(

[identity profile] chiropteraclan.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Ja. I've gotten all A's in grad school because of this. And I keep my family fed. But the past 3.5 years of my life have not had a lot of fun in the mix. It's been mostly work.

It's not how I want to live the rest of my life. I'm not as bad as I've been in the past, but this still needs to change some more.

Working smarter is good on paper in my line of work. lol

Too much travel time and meetings in-between that make for really long days thus the final answer to the equation is working HARDER!

Honestly, I tend to be a really hard worker and would get bored if I did not have loads to do but someday, I would love to learn how to chill out a bit more and relax if there is a day that calls for me to be in the office.

Have a great day!

:D

Yeah... Sometimes, there's no choice!

I hope you had a great day too!

Once upon a time it was exceptional. Now it's "you get what you pay for" and no one's paying much:)

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
:D

I hear ya!

[identity profile] uawildcatgrl.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I show up and do my job.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool :D

As a waitress, I'll be nice to you until you're a jackass, then you get shitty service. At this stage in my life I'd rather get a crappy tip then pander to assholes.

Which is why I am looking to change careers . . . but I imaging I'll always have to pander to assholes in some way.

BTW: Anyone who says, "I'll give you a really good tip if you . . ." always tips like shit. ALWAYS.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Everything involves pandering to someone... Until you're the boss of all ;)

For myself - brutal and uncompromising. I treat myself like a sweat house worker under the management of a Marine drill sergeant. Failure comes at too high an emotional price for me.

As long as you're taking time out to breathe, bro!

[identity profile] kingdavey.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Rush around with sheets of paper in your hands, everyone thinks you are busy and leaves you alone. (great managers trick)

[identity profile] kingdavey.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
What's so funny. I've been using that trick for years, it works a treat.

Rush into a room, Stammer something about needing to get back to them in a minute when you get five minutes and rush out again. everyone then thinks you are too busy at the moment to pester with silly details (like work) and leaves you in peace. As long as you keep moving around the build, no one can catch up with you. When you finally get back to where you are supposed to be, Everyone knows you have been so busy, they leave yo alone to get your head together. It's a brilliant plan

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just laughing because I've used the trick at times :D

[identity profile] kingdavey.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
See it works doesn't it
:D

Do what I'm asked, go slightly above that, and reap the benefits.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Works for me!

[identity profile] avis-noctis.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Relax but focus. Think of work as a privilege.

[identity profile] evergladesqueen.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
get it right the 1st time
*hugs*

[identity profile] empatia.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Keep going till I drop. Working is how I escape.

[identity profile] eternalxwhisper.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Enjoy myself and get the job done. I rarely have to work hard and I enjoy making my co-workers laugh.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
:D

Works for me!
