Question of the Day

What would you rather do, win, or be right?

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
What if you can't have both?

Well, let's see...I'm always right, and I never lose, so I'd have to say do.

...we are talking about doing something good aren't we? cuz that would be totally mustard (...still sounds weird to me...)

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Good or bad, it makes no difference to the question :D

[identity profile] sirenity.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that the same thing?

Ooops - were my "idealistic" panties showing? How very shocking of me. Pardon me please, kind sir?

;)

LMAO!

[identity profile] elizabethfry.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
being right can be lonely sometimes!
but I prefer it, with all its possible frustrations

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree... I would always rather be right...

[identity profile] kabandra.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
Shoot.. good question. I love politics for the sake of argument. I love to win, but it's pointless to win if I'm not right. Yet, it's also pointless to be right and not win.

In all I'd rather be right, like by being a Democrat etc, and just keep on trucking until I actually win. You can always have many chances to win, but if you're wrong once then it kinda skrews you.

P.S. Your country is AMAZING. I'm posting pictures later today. ;)

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, being right is much more self satisfying...

Glad you're enjoying yourself!

I hate losing, but i hate being wrong even more. So "losing" by way of education is just a small win on my part. Hooray nebulosity!

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
:D Great answer!

[identity profile] art-journaling.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'd rather be right so I can do something to win.

[identity profile] avis-noctis.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Winning is empty if I'm not right. But being right is extremely frustrating if I don't win.

Yet, in the long run, I'd rather be right and know it, even if no one else did.

Exactly. :)

Hmm,since you're a country where "right is wrong and left is right", I think that's a kind of dastardly question.
:P

But seriously; I prefer to be right because even if you don't win, you'll always have the consolation that you were right. I know it'll still suck if you don't win, but being right softens that up a bit.

:D We like it that way, it confuses everyone :P

And I agree with your answer :D

Yes indeed!

[identity profile] the-ravyn.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Since the truth always outs itself, I'd rather be right.  It may take a while, but when others realize I'm right, I eventually win.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
:D

That's my way of thinking about it too!

[identity profile] smwright.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Clearly, I'm not alone in my answer. :) Your question presupposes a difference, where I don't see one. At least not in my case. :)

Me too :)

[identity profile] donnickcottage.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Be right. Winning is nothing if you're wrong.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Very true, my friend... :D

[identity profile] mighty-rontor.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Both. Given ease and an option, why compromise?

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
So you feel that those who are right always win?

I can blow off being wrong, but loosing sticks in my craw.

Not sure I agree with the wording...
They aren't mutually exclusive.

But the best advice anyone gave us before my husband I got married was when my father said "remember: sometimes it's more important to fix what's wrong than it is to be right"

So "win"? no...

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Usually, they aren't, but sometimes... Life isn't exactly fair.

Excellent advice that...

[identity profile] uawildcatgrl.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
be right...I think that's winning in itself...(I'm not a win at all costs kind of gal)

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree... I'd rather be right too :D

[identity profile] dolorinterno.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
uh, why can't i have both?

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
Because life's not fair?

:D

[identity profile] mishi-ragdoll.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
im sorry...but i just have a fixation with winning...i would much rather win because being the selfish bitch that i am i always want things to go my way :(

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, at least you're honest about it! :D

[identity profile] eternalxwhisper.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Be right. It doesn't matter if you didn't win but at least you know that you were right. Winning isn't everything.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yep... It's better to know you're right :D
