Question of the Day

Would you rather push yourself and learn from failure, or stay steady and fail less often?

[identity profile] torisrabbit.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
push. or else how would you learn?

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yup!

[identity profile] voldelange.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
i'm not afraid of failing.it's worst not trying.from failure you can learn something and succeed later, but not trying you don't learn nothing and you don't get anywhere...

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely...

[identity profile] inmyocean.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
I push myself but I'd rather learn from success then failure ... but I guess if we fall we only have up to go .... it just hurts so damn much ... but pain lessens. I just personally do not like failure or accept it. I'd like to fail less often but then it would mean I was doing less and reaching for less too.

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
You're a perfectionist baby :)

Pushing and succeeding as often as you do is a very special gift :D

They do say though, that there is more to be learnt from failure than success...

Hmmm. Me, personally, I don't like to think of failure as failure. I think that mistakes are just a series of steps on the road to perfection. So really, there are no mistakes. Just things that grow to perfection over the course of time and, of course, practice practice practice.

Hmmm. I think that it depends on the situation. I think that steadiness has its place, but after a while it can stagnate if change is not put into action. For me there is a time for steadiness and a time for change. It's really only a matter of recognizing which is necessary.
There is an occult saying that I try meditating on a lot. It goes, "change is stability and stability change." Kind of reminds me of the human body. If the heart stops the body dies.

Yes, it does...

Push myself . . . I've either leared or taught someone else who needed help with the lesson, too. If we live our lives without learning, are we really living?

[identity profile] ayoub.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Learning every day makes life worthwhile...

I'm a "What If" person. So, if I were to choose the latter, I'd spend my life wondering what whould have happened if I had pushed myself. Sure, I would have risked failure, but, as the philosopher Jagger said: "You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime you just might find, you get what you need."

Enough failure for me. I'm staying steady and failing less.
*hugs*

The latter. To a crippling degree, actually. I'm getting better at risking failure, though. It takes time when you're as afraid of it as I am.

When you push yourself, the risk of failure is higher though...
