John Otway, without a shadow of a doubt. If you ever get the chance to see him play live (http://www.johnotway.com/gigs.html) then take it with both hands and go, and if you don't have the most fabulous time possible I will refund your ticket money.
Here he is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8C-BwAbAdc&feature=related) back in 1977 with Wild Willy Barrett, and this is him (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am7YaW1A5vw&feature=related) thirty years on, still knocking them out ...
I don't really know you well enough yet to know your musical tastes, but lately I've been recommending Jason Manns to lots of people (link goes to his CDBaby page, and you can listen to all the tracks on his CD. there are also Jason related links you can follow from there). I'm pretty sure he just finished up his shows in the UK for the time being.
Efterklang (http://www.myspace.com/efterklang) if you're into atmospheric, though interesting, techno.
The Birthday Massacre (http://www.myspace.com/thebirthdaymassacre) sounds like industrial 80's pop/rock. I've been following them for a long time and find them to be simply fantastic. ^_^
For more mainstream tastes, i also recommend Aerosmith, KT Tunstall, Fallout Boy, Finger Eleven, Pink Floyd, Marilyn Manson, Celine Dion, Cher, Ace of Base...
Plus, there's the entire trance genre. I can't say enough good things about it. Doesn't matter who you listen to. It's all magnificabulous. :D
