Jul. 17th, 2007 02:39 pmBeauty... takes work.
For some it's a lot of work,
Others... less so.
Kindness... takes work.
For some, it's a lot of work,
Others... less so.
Most interesting of all...
Is the inverse relationship between these two things.
The work it takes to hold on to beautiful,
doesn't do a lot besides slip a mask on.
Your kindness, however, will never stop making you beautiful.
And I wrote:
Beauty isn't in the eye of the beholder
nor is it an easy to quantify formula
it's not just the shape of a person
it has nothing to do with colouring
They say size doesn't really matter
but I'm afraid I beg to differ
beauty is only truly measurable
by the size of a person's heart.
A quote...
Feb. 14th, 2007 09:57 amAll weapons are instruments of evil and are absolutely not the instruments of the wise prince. He uses them only when urged by necessity. Calm and repose are what he appreciates; victory by the force of weapons is undesirable for him
Considering it necessary is a sign that the man takes pleasure in killing other men, and he who takes pleasure in that killing may not run an empire.
When we want to weaken someone, we should first strengthen him. If we want to defeat him, we must first raise him. If we intend to deprive him, we must first give him presents. This is what is called subtle discernment.
Thus, the submissive and the weak will conquer the tough and strong.
~ Tao Te King

"Doubt of the reality of love ends by making us doubt everything." ~ Henri Frederic Amiel (1821-1881) Swiss Philosopher, Poet, Critic

Man is not the sum of what he has already, but rather the sum of what he does not yet have, of what he could have.
Generosity is nothing else than a craze to possess. All which I abandon, all which I give, I enjoy in a higher manner through the fact that I give it away. To give is to enjoy possessively the object which one gives.
~ Jean-Paul Sartre
Picked up "Being and Nothingness" on a whim today, this should be fun :)

Beauty is mysterious as well as terrible. God and devil are fighting there, and the battlefield is the heart of man.
Sarcasm: the last refuge of modest and chaste-souled people when the privacy of their soul is coarsely and intrusively invaded.
Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.
We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken.
~ Fyodor Dostoevsky
That last one is so much me... I do that all the time... :D

It's incredibly difficult for a guy to act like a grown up all the time!
"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." ~ William Churchill
Songs that are doing the rounds in my head today:
"Cry For Help" by Rick Astley
"Remember the Time" by Michael Jackson
"Far Away" by Nickelback
"With A Little Help From My Friends" by Wet Wet Wet
Let's see what else comes along to fit my very strange mood...
I never thought I'd say this, being vehemently anti-apple for so long, but I love my ipod. Great, now I feel dirty... :P

Robert Frost quotes for the day...
May. 3rd, 2006 11:21 amMost of the change we think we see in life is due to truths being in and out of favour.
A mother takes twenty years to make a man of her boy, and another woman makes a fool of him in twenty minutes.
A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.
A poem begins in delight and ends in wisdom.
A poet never takes notes. You never take notes in a love affair.
Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee, and I'll forgive Thy great big joke on me.
~ Robert Frost

A poem in the movie, The Saint
Apr. 30th, 2006 10:42 pm...and when the shades of pure light dance in her clear eyes,
I see my angel for the first time.
Know my purpose, feel my birth.
Hear her, at first faintly, then distinctly.
The sweet strains of our union.
Our love heats up the cold universe
and gives my tired, desperate hope
a reason and season to be revealed.
We, purified by our kisses
are eternally healed.
~ Val Kilmer

Albert Einstein Quotes
Apr. 21st, 2006 12:55 pmWhen you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.
Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.
He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.
It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.
:D

"I tell the truth, not as much as I would like to, but as much as I dare. I dare more and more as I grow older." ~ Michel Eyquem De Montaigne (1553-1592)
"Why does a man take it for granted that a girl who flirts with him wants him to kiss her - when, nine times out of ten, she only wants him to want to kiss her?" ~ Helen Rowland (1876-1950)
That second one? LMAO!
