I like the Super Bowl. I especially liked this year's, though. The Giants were my Dad's favorite team and to see them take it, against all odds, was awesome!
Oktoberfest here is huge. You get beer for about 1 Peso... Not that I like beer, but that's cool.
There are also festivals ("fiestas" we call them) here all the time. My favorite is the Ati-Atihan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ati-Atihan_Festival) in my Mom's province of Aklan. It's cool and everyone participates.

I love love love MUGWUMP, which is held every year a few miles away from me throughout the last weekend in July. It's been going on since 1969 and was the 'Woodstock' party at home for people that couldn't go to the real Woodstock in NY. People go a day or two early and set up a tent. There's bands, beer trucks, a pig roast, hundreds of drunk/high/wasted people, volleyball, bikers, motorcycles, etc. My friends and I start doing a countdown sometime in February or March (only 5 months til MUGWUMP!). I've gone every year for about 8 years now. I think there's usually around 600-900 people that attend every year. If you'd like to see pix and what I wrote about it from 2007's event, just click 'Mugwump' in my tags. I think there's 2 or 3 entries. You'll also get to see Kayla's ginormous bewbies. ( o )( o )
I really look forward to the Scottish festival. Here, it is held mid-May every year. This year, my clan chieftain asked me to help out at our clan's booth! I'm so excited!!!
I also love to celebrate my birthday. :)
I used to look forward to Midsummer every year because it marked the beginning of camping season. But I have only camped once since I moved to NM. I hope to change that in another couple years when my life has settled down again.
I love/hate most sports finals. Some more than others, hockey & footie are good sports to watch and the lead up to the big games are usually pretty entertaining.
Football (American or Canadian) simply doesn't do it for me. If you're going to wrestle each other to the ground you shouldn't bother with all the padding. So it has to fall into the hate category.
Events I truly love: any celebration in which people get together & have a good time.
Holy shit. Don't people realize how idiotic that makes them? People get trampled for two dollars off a still over-priced shirt. My gods, have we become gerbils?! Idiots.
Thank you, Denis Leary. "What's next, the chair-master? I sit down, I get up, I sit down, I get up. The door-master! I open the door, I close the door, I open the doo.. What the fuck?"
That pivotal moment during one of the "spring" months (march, april, may) wherein the temperatures get steadily warmer, the days get longer, and the snow finally gurgles its farewell speech before liquefying and flooding the region under 10 inches of water.
That's one event i love and look forward to every year.

Date: 2008-02-04 01:59 pm (UTC)All that racket and banging to celebrate a failure. I've never understood it. Don't particularly like my birthday either.
Love Shrove Tuesday (pancake day) and Christmas (hate the commercialisation of Christmas, like the old fashioned mulled wine n carols bits).
