Work, soccer practice, come home and eat dinner, go to sleep early so I can be ready for parent teacher conferences with my students' parents on Friday.
*shrug* I have to work today. I'm going to have 100 students today who are hyped up on sugar and probably emotional because they did or did not get something for their bf or gf. I think that is about as much V Day as I can handle. K is going to be knocked out after his surgery, and I have already sent him something. I have a wee valentine for my girl. I won't be getting anything from or doing anything with anyone.
So I don't look at it as a not fun Valentine's day. It is just another day.
I've got nothing romantic planned for Pixie. (I left her card and her present by her lap top so she would find them when she woke up)
All I have planned today, is picking Hannah up from school at 3pm, trying to find ways to keep her amused and occupied until dinner time (possibly going out on her bike to the park). After she has gone to bed I will collapse on the sofa shattered.
Well, they are doing research in the library on the Holocaust for their research paper. I think I would worry if this inspire something terribly romantic...... LMAO!! :D
To be honest, other than cards, I don't really do Valentines Day...
Relationships can and should have romance and snuggles (and noisy snuggles, lol) on any day. Not just the day ordained by restaurants wanting to make more money.
We exchanged cards, Dave left a little pressie by my computer, then we have Hannah and I have Bible study. Then I'll come home and we'll veg on the sofa, as always :o) I never did need big overblown gestures to feel loved, just 'iccle ones.
A two hour drive to another city to attend a meeting and a cultural compentency brainstorming session with a professor from UNM to gather information from that part of the region.
Three hours there and then another 2 hour drive home this afternoon.
Attend class and answer discussion questions and prepare for another research paper and PPP for next week's assignment.
It's the card companies not the restaurants that want to make money out of Valentines day. The restaurant would normally have 10 tables of 4 people all eating and drinking, but Valentines comes along, there are only half the number of people in the restaurant, taking their time, feeding each other, more interested in getting home to continue snuggling (with grunting, groaning and bouncy bed springs) to spend any more money than they have to. They generally forget to tip either
Oh I don't mean here...I mean the big posh city places (there are Manchester restaurants who literally double their prices in the run up to Valentines Day). And card companies and people who just want to get laid.....
We already had our V. Day here. Strangely enough, Lao people really get into it, so I got dragged along. Just got back from drinking beer and Mongolian bar-be-que - the boys in the office treated us girls.
Shower, shopping, make myself something tres tasty, and possibly watching Love Actually.
I think I might get myself one of those nice Belgian chocolate hearts so I can smash it into little pieces, but still have really good chocolate to enjoy. ;)
