What are you entitled to?

Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. ~ Col. Nathan R. Jessep, in A Few Good Men ;D

In the US I am entitled to certain unalienable rights ;) - the entitlement ends there though. The rest is up to me.

Easy! I am entitled to the following:

Death.
Whatever I can get away with.
My own imaginings.
Everything on my terms.

Next question!

The right to make my own decisions and screw up my life or fix it as I see fit without anybody else having to take responsibility for my actions (or lack of action..lol). :)

As a living creature, I am entitled to the right to fight for my temporary survival. Just like all other living things in the ecosystem - it is given by nature.

As a member of various guilds and associations, I am entitled to the privileges I bought into. Such as being a permanent member of Live Journal, through which I am entitled to the rights and privileges for which I paid under explicit contract. This is entitlement through mutual agreement and the rendering of goods and services in exchange for monetary value.

As a divine being, I am entitled to the search for deep truths and to embrace a path through which to find my own answers to the great mysteries - ancient, present and future. This is an entitlement I make by myself for myself, and therefore I bear all the responsibility.

Hrm... tough question. The older I get, the more I wonder if people are really entitled to anything, if that makes any sense? Life's just not fair, yo. Maybe the right to life, as well as the right to fair treatment as defined by the law of the land.

Beyond that, I think it's up to people to make sure they have what they need for themselves... even basic things, like respect. The beauty (and the curse) of living in a free country is that beyond what's dictated by the law, no one has to do anything they don't want to do, including respect one another.
