OK, now if this wasn't so absolutely ridiculous, it would be very funny.

Be sure to read the poem... but the line that made me really burst out laughing was "Tells it all straight, and means it all too."

Don't find it funny? Then read this wonderful collection, and this too:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." — George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Sept. 13, 2001

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." — George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., March 13, 2002

I really don't understand how people of intelligence can support him, I mean, even Blair's staunches supporters are distancing them from him these days!

For crying out loud, this is a man that said:
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." — George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

In other news, South Africa, where the former deputy President has been charged with rape. What is it about people who seek power? Why are they so often such twisted individuals?

And the Circus Saddam continues despite claims of its illegality. The problem is, and I think a lot of people might just agree, is that circus or not, a lot of Iraqi people need this trial, they have feared this man for so long, that any official looking reprimand of him will help to prove he is just a man, and that people pay for their crimes.

As to whether the trial if fair or not? I'll just say what a wise man once said:

"Well, who says life is fair? Where is that written?" - The Grandfather, The Princess Bride

For me it'll always remain a mystery why they almost impeached a man over a lousy blowjob and just shrug their shoulders when it became clear they were lied into a war.

Guess it's just the old 'different strokes (and priorities) for different folks' :)

the only conclusion i have been able to come to is this: his spin masters are brilliant. They have latched on to two ideas: religion and fear. Plus they know how to target their message to those people who are most influenced by those two things (and that's a lot of people, unfortunately).

Fear: in times of great uncertainty when lives are at stake (read: 9/11 and the threat of terrorism) its easy to tell people that they should fear many things including change. People were afraid not to vote for Bush. You have to remember that as a rule, Americans are not used to any kind of terrorism-related violence. His spin masters used that fear and continued it (why else did they come up with that ridiculous color coded terrorism threat level?)

Religion: Once they had an environment of fear in place, they went straight for religion. They positioned anyone who was not just like them as being void of religion. Anyone who didn't vote like they voted must be a terrorist (and yes, they often alluded to the fact that Democrats supported terrorism). They went directly into the conservative churches and preached politics from the pulpit. I know this for a fact because my brother happened to attend a church service with his father-in-law a few months before the last election. My brother was shocked to see half of the sermon devoted to the fact that John Kerry was the devil, after which they handed out pamphlets promoting George Bush as the right person to vote for.

Its dirty politics at its very core.

His most honest statement.

Life may not be fair (although, in the end, I think it usually is), but we have to be, or we are worse than him. The people of Iraq don't need this trial, a lot of them don't want it. What they need begins with freedom to choose their own government and, indeed, system of government. Killing one former tyrant is not going to help free them from their present tyrant.

This is a segment from a book written in the 70's "But they can rule by fraud, and by fraud eventually acquire access to the tools they need to finish off the job of killing the constitution."
"What sort of tools?"
"More stringent security measures. Universal electronic surveillance. No-knock laws. Stop and frisk laws. Government inspection of first-class mail. Automatic fingerprinting, photographing, blood tests, an urinalysis of any person arrested before he is charged with a crime. A law making it unlawful to resist even unlawful arrest. Laws establishing detention camps for potential subversives. Gun control laws. Restrictions on travel."

It was a discussion following the Kennedy assassination in the book.

What frightens me is that all that is said there is what Bush and his people are pushing for.

And you're absolutely correct, it's the dirtiest game.

Definitely...

Life can give the illusion of balancing out, but it doesn't really...

Honestly, I am at a loss for how to process what has happened over the last 5 years. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I am so angry that not only his administration has gotten us here, but a slight majority of the American public chose to follow and not think. He and his cohorts can preach all their bible thumping and American flag waving form of convoluted patriotism, but I *still* contend I am 110% more in love with my country and what it stands for than any of them.

See, that's the thing...

"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government" - Edward Abbey

By using hate and faith as you mentioned earlier, they've distorted what America stands for for a lot of people...

they are ruling by fraud, Ayoub. in neither election, did Bush win the popular vote, and he only won the electoral college vote by fraud! if life were fair, Bush and Cheney would have both died from Hepatitis C, brought on by AIDS by now. ~paul

I think changing Presidents would've been the least of the problems the US is facing now. Maybe even would've diminished them.
