My philosophy is this: Philosophy is for the rich and hard to spell. No really to have a philosophy seems to me to have a plan for living. I don't have a plan I'm to busy just trying to keep my head above water. So I guess my favorite philosopher would be Can't as in Can't be bothered I'm too tired. Is Hedenism a philosophy? Now I could get into that as long as it felt good.
To be at peace with the world, one has to realize that it is one fucked up place. -me and my best friend coin that one
My more personal philosophy consists of me being metaphorically resolved, a selective perfectionist, socially selective (not anti-social), and to be a value within myself.
It's kinda sad how easy it is for me to spout all that. The first quote is the gist of it though.
In theory: Abide by the teachings of the Bible, strive to be a blessing to those around me and to live life in the light of eternity (i.e. avoid seeing life, the world, the moment as an end unto itself, rather view everything as a step in the journey toward the Judgment).
In practice: make feeble attempts at all of the above.
Because in order to execute all of the above to spec, I would need to be quite unselfish. This I am far from being, alas. Working on it, though, and I think I'm making progress. I'm certainly much closer to achieving these goals now than I was, say, five year ago.
live each day, according to who you are (don't compromise your ideals). live for yourself first and foremost (no one needs or wants a matryr and you will be happier and so will those around you in turn). learn as much as you can from every situation/experience. don't overthink every last thing because you will only drive yourself crazy in the process. what goes around, comes around (karma can be a bitch). Treat people as you want to be treated.
it works in the main for me. there are days it feels like no matter how I live etc others will ultimately feel they are superior and I should follow suit ... but you just move on from those people and not turn back.

1) I must do whatever I can in order to keep my soul as unblemished and well nurtured as possible.
2) I should always try to be polite and pleasant to people.
3) People en masse are generally stupid.
4) People en masse are generally assholes.
5) In order for anyone to eat, something must die.
As far as general guidelines are concerned, I prefer The Specials' words of wisdom: "Enjoy yourself! It's later than you think!"
