Love, discipline, patience, willingness to listen, willingness to teach, ability to laugh at even the most frustrating of things, and again with the love.

Plus if anyone harmed my child, whether my child was 5 or 50, they better bloody watch their ass, because I'd find them and disembowel the bastards. Strike that. Not just my child, any child I know.

I haven't any children but from a child's point of view I think a parent who is willing to give you the freedom to express your individuality, to let you make mistakes but be there to pick up the pieces and help you through the learning experience. To give you the wisdom of their years and use it not tell you what to do but help you decide on what you think is the right approach. A parent who is there not just to tell you right from wrong but to be your friend and share in your childhood and adult years.
