I usually observe, then, if pushed by action, concience or just a severe sense of WTF, I intervene.

Nowadays, more intervention than observation due to having little kids that need a lot of help. However, I'm starting to observe more and more with Josh as he learns to do things on his own.

Last time I had the option I chose the intervention.

A friend was sore and definitely down on her luck. Her life was a mess and she was in a bit of trouble with child services over the condition of her house.

So, I decided to go over and kick some butt AND help tackle the huge mess.

The outcome: She updated me the other week she's doing much better. She's working AND she managed to lose some weight. She still has her daughter and all is well!

I would DEFINITELY perform an intervention again if I had to!

I don't think I can give a general answer...it would highly depend on the person and the circumstance.

I mean if you're talking fight or flight...my instinct is to fight.
