How much does your default userpic become your identity on LJ?

It really doesn't become my "identity" per sec, but more often than not conveys either things I am interested in or reflects my particular mood.

Yes, that's true I guess but then it's just a choice one makes. You yourself have actually branded your whole journal style around your default user picture, but then I have also noticed you actually don't use your default user picture all that much when you post because most of the time you use one that better fits the mood of the post.

Ah! It was covered extensively in my journal a month ago. Basically the one woman in the group who couldn't use a sword took over the group. When I pointed this out (a la 'Emporer's new Clothes') she denied it and had me thrown out. She was married to the chap who ran the weekly classes and organised the hall, so he threatened to disband the whole group and close the hall if I ever turned up again. The Professor who runs the whole thing was over a barrel and couldn't help, so rather than my friends losing out I walked away.

I have it as my default because it's generic - I don't need to think about it...but I usually use a variety of icons for my posts.

Hmmm... well, it's distinctive. At least, I think it is. I've never seen anyone else with the particular picture. :) Also, it's something I really identify with. So I guess it's just my identity because it is.

oh of course. It's not literally me, but it is me symbolically and otherwise. Each of my paintings have a part of me in them. I really think of them like children.
