Recently I wrote an entry in my lj in the light of sinterklaas, xmas and the crazy amount of money people spent on holiday presents during days like that, last entry was about a little boy in Africa working all day selling self-made airplanes out on the street and I was surprised to find a really paranoid and twisted reaction from someone who crazy enough thought it was an entry made for her because she was one of those people who spends a wagonload of money on presents on one kiddo.
She even went as far as to start a witch hunt in her own lj to get people to ditch me and is now using other people's personal journals and entries to 'leave messages' for me. It's crazy.
So apparently the privacy of your own livejournal is a false sense of security when there are weirdo's on your list and you always have to be careful.

A fair amount. I am friends only on everything, and even within that I have filters because of trust levels I have with people who have been with me for years. But if it is something I truly worry about "being out there" in cyberland, I don't put it in my journal. I keep a paper journal for those kinds of things if I feel the need to write about them.
I say whatever the hell I want. It's MY journal. If no one likes it, piss off. LMAO! I have a really good bunch of friends on my f-list though - they love how I speak my mind.
As much as I want to take and use. Period. The beauty of it being MY journal, I write what I want, when I want. I know some of the things I write about offend/upset some people. Yeah, so? We're back to it being MY journal. If it offends, don't read. If your undies get into a bunch because of something I wrote, you may want to look at why YOUR undies got into a bunch in the first place.
What it all boils down to is the disclaimer I put at the top of my journal:
This is the way it is
This is my journal. All content is mine. Almost all posts are Friends Locked. Since I consider this journal a direct link into my brain, I hold the rights to decide who gets to have access or not.
There is drama within. It's MY drama. Friends are invited to play as they see fit, provided they don't start or cause drama. You have your own journal for your drama.
Just about anyone here can tell you that I'm pretty upfront about a lot of things. I'm not afraid to answer your questions. "If you've got the guts to ask it; I've got the guts to answer it." Just because you may not like the answer I give you... that's not my issue.
Get used to the idea that I'm sarcastic. I'm rude. I do swear, if I feel the situation calls for it. As a norm, I write for my own entertainment and to work stuff out. Friends are invited to play along.
Feel free to leave a comment in one of the public posts. If you feel like friending me, expect that I will be going through your journal and deciding whether or not I'll return the kindness.
Very free to be myself...my journal is friends locked but for two posts and has additional filters for close friends/people I trust and suchlike.
If people add me I don't always add back and I actually ban set random people who friend me (random as in we have no communities or friends in common - some people just randomly friend)
If I were not a 12 year old Asian female masquerading as a 55 year old Caucasian male I'd say I had a lot of freedom. But as it is I have to stay "in character", so it's not like I can talk about the things that really bug me ya know, like moms and pizza, and boys and braces, and Hanna freaking Montana!
I have about 99% freedom in my journal. The 1% that isn't total freedom is when I stop and think would what I'm saying upset alainn_mactire, but even then I normally post whatever I want anyway.
My journal is locked Friends Only, I'm always happy to make new friends, but I make sure that I know a little about the person first. I don't want some of the RL locals reading my journal
i think i have all the freedome i want :] i dont know why so many people are just afraid to be themselves on their own journal, just because they think that their commenters are not going to agree with them. no offense to you or any of my commenters, but i could care less about what bad things they may think of me. my journal was set up for me and me only, i just think of my lj friends as a bonus that im lucky to have :]
I'm pretty hidden for the most part, but not because of anyone. Sure I've got some filters, but I don't really get into a lot of detail about what is in my head.
I got into this whole LJ thing so I could learn to express myself better, but I realize that I can't stop living in my own head.
I used to be more open about things, but I realized that I spent too much time explaining what I wrote to people who "read" something that didn't exist.
Plus, I absolutely loath advice if I haven't asked for it and everyone seems to be a fecking armchair expert on all topics.
I think you have complete freedom. If you have friends on your flist who can't let you be you without getting into an argument or thinking the worst then they don't deserve to be on your flist and you can't truly call them friends.
Everyone has a right to voice their own opinions on their journal, it's up to their friends to CHOOSE HOW to respond.
