To run away and hide. I don't like crowds, I feel uncomfortable around lots of people. I'll stay near the edge of the room. If I see someone I know, I'll stay on the edge of their group, so it looks like I'm taking part, but I'm unlikely to say anything. Just stand there like a lemon
I generally tend to do that too - even if it's someone I actually arrived there with. I let them get in with people they know, then I just stand around and feel pretty much uncomfortable.
I look for somebody i know. If found, i grab a drink and join them. Not necessarily in that order.
Failing that, i grab a drink anyway and proceed to get silly and chatty so that others will come looking for me next time they walk into a crowded room.
If there's no adult beverages at hand... Well, what am i doing at that party anyway? O_O
Well first would be to look for someone I know. But since I have mastered the art of jabber jaw I would still be yapping it up with people I meet along the way to looking for that familiar face.
Step One: Make sure I look/act confident and ready for anything (even when I'm not).
Step Two: Notice any potential threats (physical or psycho-babble) based on body language and behaviour. Then go out of the way to avoid these people in any social situation as much as possible.
Step Three: Make sure all exits/entrances are noted in case of emergency. This sort of happens simultaneously with Step Two.
Step Four: Scope out the women-folks. And maintain the ultra-polite, congenial mask for public consumption.
If I am alone - find a spot that is not so crowded and check out the scene.
If I am with someone - like John for example - hold his hand or curl my arm in his and go with him.
I am too shy and not overly fond of crowds. Hence why the Times Square area is a place I won't be going near too often during my Manhattan adventures. Too many people pushing and shoving - ALL the time.
Survey the room immeadiatley, I want to know and sense every person there. I am a bit of an attention grabber when I walk into a room, mostly because I absorb so much damn energy. I want to know who I am draining, lol.
