In The Untouchables, one of the characters says "You don't bring a knife to a gunfight..." So if not a gun (or a knife), what would you bring to a gunfight?

You bring a gun to a gun fight... why wouldn't you bring a gun? You just don't bring a knife because they can shoot you before they can stab you.
