I've got loads of different favorite styles for all my different emo moods. Haha... :P
I have some country, some rap/hip-hop, some dance-y disco-y tracks and even some pop.
I've also got tonnes of stuff from musicals(Disney! Broadway! Off-Broadway!).
Mostly, though, lots of variations of rock.
There's instrumental pieces and the more traditional (for our day and age) vocal pieces.
I have songs in English, Filipino, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese and Mandarin.
Mostly I just stuff whatever I like in my iTunes, so it's a real ragtag clusterfuck melting pot thing-y.
I even tell people that I think the only thing I don't really listen to is Gregorian chant. It's creepy, I think. Horror movies have spoiled it for me. :(
My musical tastes are far and wide. I can be listening to Iron Maiden one minute and then switch to Louis Armstrong the next. There is very little I don't listen too
I listen to pretty much anything accept gospel. I have Korn, Placebo, Radiohead, Linkin Park, Erika badu, sade, the cure, big bud, gary numan and loads of other different types of music genre.
I listen to just about everything. Not a huge fan of classical, but there are rare occasions it does okay. Linkin' Park, though, is one of my TOP favorites. :D
I'll listen to anything once. Then I listen to it again. Then I decide if I want to keep it around.
The short answer is that I listen to everything and have since I was a little girl. My mother and father made sure I had a huge plate full of various types of music to choose from. :)
The only music I'm really not into overall is country and punk. Both drive me nuts...especially punk. But I don't dog it or anything. It's just not for me. I still respect it and think it's a totally valid form of music etc.
Screw trying to label Linkin Park...I only know I like them. :) ANd you know, there's probably SOME punk song out there that I actually do like and just don't know it! No shame in that! It doesn't mean our whole idea of our music taste is whack! ;)
I will not listen to Gospel. I can tolerate some country (although I can always listen to bluegrass) and opera for short periods. I hated most of the crap they played on the radio between '93 & '98 because it simply didn't have a pulse. I love just about all metal if it's not bland or repetitive.
In answer to your query, my musical tastes are very, very eclectic. It's easier to list what I don't listen to.
I used to say anything but classical or heavy metal .... but with the extreme amount of crossover in genres I simply listen to everything and weed out individual songs. So long as I can understand the words I'm happy. :)
ditto with your answer. i have a very broad range and as long as i can understand the words and it speaks to me in some way or another, i'll listen to it. :D
I don't like punk, any chart pop after the mid 90's or the whole "nu-metal" scene (Linkin Park, Slipknot...)
Other than that I have quite wide tastes...Tosca, Lloyd Webber, Gershwin, The Housemartins, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Joan Armatrading, Eva Cassidy, Janis Joplin, Julian Cope, Def Lepperd and John Denver all being favourites :o)
Like everyone else, I listen to almost everything. Though some more recent tunes I have little to no tolerance for, and if I hear Willie Nelson, he's too depressing. Haha.
Oh Lord. Music is my PASSION. I love rap, it is my favorite, and metal, and rock, and Charlie now has me liking Country and frankly? I go well at any party. Me loves the Beatles, and I can do 70's music too.
And yes, Linkin is considered metal these days, they are quite hard. Metal or hard alternative.
I can and do listen to nearly everything. Opera tends to annoy eventually, and I can only handle hardcore metal/rap for a short time or when I'm in certain moods.
My preferences are classical, 80's alternative, Indie, classic rock, new wave, new age, Celtic, Brit pop, acoustic guitar, etc.
I like a little bit of everything, and a lot of certain things.
For example, rap and country aren't my favourites, but I can totally get down to some Sugar Hill Gang or Patsy Cline. The "screaming bands" of the last couple of years tend to get on my nerves, but there are a number of pieces of that genre that I enjoy, too. Classical, Jazz, Classic & Prog Rock, Metal, Bluegrass, Disney, Showtunes, Ambient, Opera, World... there's very little I don't listen to at some point or another.
My playlist is crazy-eclectic. You can see whatever I'm listening to here (when I remember to turn it on!): http://mog.com/Ldy
And I wouldn't classify Linkin Park as metal. But that's just me :)
