I geek out about a lot of things... if I understand the question correctly. ;)
Food, coffee, mobile technology (not as much as I used to), handmade items, crafting...
Music and movies were on the list at one time as well, but I just don't have the brainwidth to keep up with it all. I think Kevin Smith *might* still qualify... Not sure though, as I haven't seen Clerks II or Jersey Girl.
Do you mean "need glasses to read?" or "know how to spell forward and backward?" or "Can name every ingredient, and the compositions of any compounds contained therein?" or "Once ran a slide show about in Mrs. Williams' middle school English class?" or "got all excited about and so celebrated by reading the manual for the Canon 4238B all in one printer, even though I don't own one?"
It's not really geek cuz I don't know (or remember most of) the names or the stars or the crews or the music, but I love "fantasy" movies, and period films in general. Smash up, chick flick, no matter to me. The only one I've ever seen that truly disappointed me was Dungeons and Dragons, mostly because it was technically inept; but then I haven't seen them all lol. I'm sure there are plenty of clinkers out there.
Mythology, history (particularly Western European medieval/early modern period), folklore, linguistics (especially Q/P Celtic languages and Latin), music, pre-modern musical instruments, literature, Druidry, and the wit of ancient wisdom from the blood of all that's born.
I'm starting to feel like I'm my own Spiderwick field guide these days. And every day I learn something new to add to my internal growing compendium.
I pride myself in knowing how to code in my journal and neveralmost never using "rich text mode" to write an entry on here.
Oh, and TV shows getting BASIC genetics/science/computer/techie lingo & information correct. A good example of a "genetics issue" can be found in an episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
At least that's what comes to mind. I'm not sure how tea can be "geeky", but maybe i don't understand the question?
Uhm, I am in a way forced to over robotics. Seriously. They take over my life. I do PR and Media for a big robotics competition and I help out at other competitions...and...well, yea. That should be enough. It's not so much that I am into robotics (though I believe it to be pretty cool at times) but more so that I am all for the cause of getting people into it to help better their education. So, geek away. That's how I met my fiance...that makes me more geeky I am sure.
