What twist of fate prompted you to gravitate towards this collection of wonders I call LiveJournal?

Bonus: And how did you come up with your LJ name?

A girl I met on a forum had an el-jay, so I got one too... Not under this username though.

This username is a tag I've used for a while, as I'm a Babylon 5 fan, I simply took my name and made it into a Minbari name, by adding the "enn" bit.

[livejournal.com profile] sloopjonb made me do it. We were all members of Jasper Fforde's Fforum, but then Things Happened and people started up in other places, LJ being the main one of them. Most people I knew and got on with on the Fforum ended up here, and it was far more sociable.

as for [livejournal.com profile] dakegra, it's the first two letters of my first and middle names, and the first three of my surname. I rather like it, it's unique and I know that if I try and log in as dakegra on a site and the username is taken, then I've been there before and just forgotten.

Only place I'm *not* dakegra is on Gizmo, where they insist on an eight-character username, so I'm dakegra_ on there. Oh, and I'm 95192156 on ICQ.

I was introduced to LJ in January of 2004 by a guy named Wayne.
Wayne and I had met online recently, in an MSN chat room for the city we lived in, and had met up... to put it bluntly, I was having an affair on my husband with this Wayne.
I started out as "jetc0528" which stood for Jared (my husband), Emily (me), Toby (my son), Charity (my daughter), and May 28th (my anniversary date).
Once Jared and I split up a few months later after the affair was found out and I ended up pregnant with Wayne's baby, I changed my username to "emmibear", which was a nickname Wayne had come up with for me.
A couple years later when about the hundredth huge drama mess broke out with Wayne and a bunch of others in our/his circle, I closed down emmibear and set up "tears_embrace", which I had come up with because at the time I was very depressed, very heartbroken and sad and was able to find comfort and solance in my tears.
Then of course, a few months ago, I felt a huge need for another change and close to that chapter in my life, and stopped being active in tears_embrace (though it is still activated and will remain so, for reference and memory, and for anyone to read the pages anytime they want to).
I then started up my journal now, "undefeated0ne", which I got from my attitude of feeling like no matter what I have been thru, no matter what has tried to hold me back and push me down, I have continued forward, undefeated. And will continue to do so.
*shrugs* Anyway, that's MY story.
I have also had a few other side journals along the way, for various different things, such as "mindlight". That name, I came up with because I felt it was a way to open up and shed some light on the various parts of my mind. There were a few others too, some of which I don't even remember now.
So, yeah. :D

Encouraged by [livejournal.com profile] dk_leathers after meeting her through Neil and fencing.

I've had cerebralpig for many years. It came from an msn random name generator back in the days when I used to frequent chatrooms. It seemed rather appropriate so it stuck. :)

My best friend since grade school invited me... because yeah I go way back to the day you had to be invited to get an LJ. ;)

And my current name was something another friend of mine made for me. I'm seriously sick of it thought and thinking about changing it but I totally suck at coming up with something cool and interesting. It has something to do with some manga.. twin mermaid or something.

sabotabby: raccoon anarchy symbol (sabo-kitty)
From: [personal profile] sabotabby
My dear friend [livejournal.com profile] annaotto (who no longer updates her LJ) told me about it, and I'm an exhibitionist, so I got right into it.

I used to be missnegativity (bad idea to choose a gender-specific username, incidentally). I changed it to [livejournal.com profile] sabotabby when some real life drama prompted me to lock down my journal. It's a reference to the Sab Cat that's a symbol for the IWW (for wildcat strikes). In some of the older cartoons, it's called a Sabotabby.

Profound disillusionment and disappointment in someone I thought the world of and I had no one to talk to about it. So I found LJ and poured out my feelings and in so doing found a release. Then it became a habit.

Kathyrene, is actually my real middle name. It is Welsh or Scottish - which one I'm not sure.

I was going through my divorce and I wanted to find a place to dump my negative thoughts and feelings. It was my little place I didn't want anyone to know about. Crazy how that was in 2005 and now 3 years later it's such a different place.

I am a libra and born under the year of the dragon. So that would be how I came up with this name.

I had gone by aisha and nickatomsgirly in the past.

I'd been using IRC (sounds like a drug? well it's just as addicting as LJ) for several years and all of my buddies from the #texas channel on IRC started using LJ. I finally capitulated and the rest is history.

My username is just my first name (actually my middle name, but I don't really use my first name except on legal docs) and my last initial.

More geekyness... my first WoW character was Gttam... mattg backwards. :)

my sister had one for years (must have missed early adopter by months) & would talk about it, but wouldn't tell me the site because she bitched about me here. curiosity got to me & I ended up with an account on every diary site out there looking for her. by the time I found her, she didn't care if I knew where she was, so I got a built in fl.

my username is my favorite NERO character who I played forever & developed to represent parts of me that don't get to come out in real life. I have used it as my primary username online, if you see it, it's me :)

now i'm stealing your QOTD :)

In the Fall '06 semester, I had a class where I was asked to blog, and was given the option of LJ or MySpace. For a while, I used MySpace, but I began to feel it was too public...so I switched to LJ. A few folks I knew at community college had LJ accounts, and I became aware of the service through them - roughly around May of 2001. I didn't become interested in getting one until I went to university, and the people I used to know were posting their drama on their journals. It was the best way to keep up. So, in late November of 2001, I obtained a code from one of them and briefly participated in their drama while bitching about my first semester at the university level.

Through the person who bestowed the code, I met a certain notorious person of questionable character, and through her in a series of chain events, I eventually friended Dan, who led me to be friended by you, and then by Ravyn, etc.

As to the bonus question... Current user name: fox = personal spirit animal (it can't be a totem, because it only belongs to me and not my entire kin/clan group - just found that out two weeks ago in research) and bard = what I'm still trying to become, which is everything I want to be. But I started out with an old character name, which has evolved into the precursor for the current one.

I was at a birthday party for one of my friends, and she mentioned LJ and how she and some others at the party had LJ blogs. So I joined to keep in touch with those friends, ended up finding several other old friends not in that group, and have made many other great new friends. :)

My LJ name is a combination of editor and girl, of which I am both *g*, and the added pun of the grrrrs that I do as an editor when people don't remember the basic rules of grammar and spelling.

My (now ex) best friend at the time had one and she convinced me to get one. I had always tried to keep diaries... but they petered out over a month or two at the most. This was more fun. 8 years strong, now. :D

My first username was Khisanth. Which was easy, because that's just what I went by. Then I decided to try to break from that and find a new identity, so I became Khariyah. Then I missed Khisanth, but someone had taken it... so I went to LadyKhisanth. But once again I tried to start all over, and came up with DelphaicDragon. I imagine it'll change again in a while as my life changes. :)

During the Great Dark War, I was found alone and bleeding out, my ammunition all but spent, upon the scorched and toxic landscape of what was once the proud wine gardens of Em'dhy-arreph, which had stood so serene and beautiful for over a thousand generations, long before anyone had even imagined the savagery of the Nargles of the Dragonlands and the verminous Mundies. Two old friends and a new one sheltered me from the Drah-ma Wraithes who bore the mark of the Pale Stag and taught me the enlightened ways. If not for these kind souls, I might have traveled the paths of the Ego's Void to exclusivity.

So there you have it.
