Well, I've always loved this one from my profile page:

"Choose rather to be strong of soul than strong of body."

- Pythagoras (582 BC - 507 BC)

And most of Gandhi's quotes... http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Mahatma_Gandhi/ - one of my favourites being:

"I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers."

Lyrics is too hard to say. I pick up song lyrics very easily and there's a lot of them that mean something to me.

Saying: It never hurts to try. (Not always true, but like... It applies to this point in time of my life.)

Quote: "Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk, Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run, and Obama ran so our children could fly." (I do not know who from, but it's clever.)

And... Lyrics: We're all too small to talk to God. --- "Behind the Sea," Panic at the Disco. (It strikes me...)

Ooops... Sorry, I totally fail at spelling.

Unfortunately, it makes me think of one I can't remember, and instead all I can think to say is, "The crows seemed to be calling his name, thought Caw."

Oh Man BOB THE BULDER! YES WE CAN! Love that song.

As for fav quotes I was watching Sharpe the other day and when he asked what his crew did before they joined the army one replied "I was a courtier to my Lord Baccus" I love it. So much more elegant that saying I was drunken slacker.

Ummm, no. Luci Baines Johnson was a teenager when her father served as president. Susan Ford Vance Bales had her senior prom at the White House. Amy Carter Wentzel? She was very young when she walked next to her father in his inaugural parade. You're forgetting Chelsea Clinton? The Bush twins weren't exactly adults either. These children may not have been AS young as the Obama offspring, but they were still children.

I forgot my favorite quote...er, quotes:

"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for." Epicurus

"Learning is finding out what you already know.
Doing is demonstrating that you know it.
Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, teachers." Richard Bach

"In the lives of children, pumpkins can turn into coaches, mice and rats into human beings. When we grow up, we learn that it's far more common for human beings to turn into rats." Gregory Maguire "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister"

Life has to be a Bitch, if it was a Slut it would be easy.

"In the Book of Life, the answers are not in the back." Charles Schulz

"In an infinite universe where anything can happen, why should a happy ending be the one that seems farfetched?" Wally West

"Everything in this room is edible. Even I am edible! But that my children is frowned upon in most societies" Willy Wonka

"The only dependable thing about the future is uncertainty." Amarant Coral

Mieux vaut fermer sa gueule et passer pour un con que l'ouvrir et ne laisser aucun doute à ce sujet.

Life is wind. It seems strong sometimes, and you just want to escape from it. But when it is still, its the only thing you wish for.

Those who dance are considered insane by those who can't hear the music.

If Life hands you lemons today, smile and say thanks. Then when it isn't looking, give Life a quick knee to the groin. That'll learn him.

"Always do what you want, and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." Dr. Suess

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit." Albert Schweitzer

"What one does is what counts and not what one had the intention of doing." Pablo Picasso

"If world leaders were doctors, I think they would be more concerned with the welfare of people." "One of the rarest things that we do is think." "Okra is the key to good gumbo." "You can never learn enough." "People often use words in a loose way that covers over what they're talking about." "Being compassionate, being concerned for your fellow man, doing everything you can to help people — that's the kind of religion I have, and it's a comforting religion." Michel Dabaghi (Dr. Michael Ellis DeBakey, MD)

I'm not looking at the veracity of the quote, nor am I quoting exactly what was said to break the news that Obama won, all I'm saying is that that is the saying going through my mind.

Amy Carter was 9, Chelsea Clinton was 12 and the Bush twins were 19 when their respective fathers assumed office.

Technically this quote should have said youngest children.  The quote is correct since Sasha Obama (age 7) will be the youngest child to live in the White House since the Kennedy administration.

For my own part, I have never had a thought
Which I could not set down in words
With even more distinctness that which I conceived it.
There is however a class of fancies of exquisite delicacy
Which are not thoughts and to which as yet
I have found it absolutely impossible to adapt to language.
These fancies arise in the soul,
Alas how rarely, only at epochs
Of most intense tranquillity
When the bodily and mental health are in perfection.
And those mere points of time
When the confines of the waking world
Blend with the world of dreams.
And so I captured this fancy
Where all that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

~Edgar Allan Poe

From what I know of the show (I have a little one here), Bob the Builder is a licensed general contractor, so his license covers all areas of the building trade (plumbing, electric, hvac, etc.).

By the way, my husband is a licensed electrician, that's how I know all this gobbledy gook, lol.

I have two licensed journeyman electricians in my family; brother and brother-in-law. Neither one will come over and help me...lol

I wasn't aware that cartoon characters could be licensed general contractors...I thought they had to go to school for all that.

*snort*

I don't know many general contractors who do their own work, they all hire it out.

(I have a small son as well, but we haven't watched Bob the Builder in ages.)

I'm finding the GRRM series highly quotable. I plan on reading them again, once I've gone through them the first time (I swear, I do that with almost every series I read - most people don't understand it) and keeping pad/pen handy to note those quotes which really speak to me. I already put one on my profile.
