During the time it is closed off in the UK I will be making dinner, eating, washing up and spending time with family, so I hopefully won't *feel* it - if it was at a different time, I'd be pulling my hair out!

From San Francisco to Montana? That is more than a four hour move, unless they plan on taking a plane.
