I'm not religious, but the time I asked myself the spiritual question, "Well, self, do you believe we live on for eternity in heaven?" And I answered, "Yes, I want to believe we are immortal in heaven." That thought made me happy. But I should point out that I absolutely do not want to be immortal on earth as a human, because that would SUCK! It's true what everybody says: Earth is the insane asylum of the universe.
So many of those moments...first kisses, first times holding hands, graduation, a good day at work, after an awesome work out, sunsets with the perfect song....
Those are the best most perfect moments, aren't they ? when you hold your child for the first time..a nd look down at them in awe, wonderment and just complete happiness.
Best I ever felt would be landing unharmed from my first skydive. I went up in the plane 3 times before I found the courage to actually to the jump. There was an incredible peace once I accepted 'Well I'm falling now.. if I die, I die." Once I landed I kissed the ground and lay on my back staring at the sky.
Probably every time I look up from my dinner plate and see my husband and kids sitting around the table. We're all happy and content in one another's company. I never thought I'd have something like this. Ever.
I had to think about it for a long time because I've had a great life, but the best I've ever felt was when I told Nan that I loved her and she accepted it. The total lack of hurt was nothing short of epic. I could have died right there and would have lived a completely full life.
Toss up between walking down the alter/joining Jimmy there/the entire ceremony and the night we first made-love. That moment when we first joined together will forever be etched in my memory.
Winning Miss OHS, my best friend's wedding, and I would have said the trip where my bf proposed but that has kind of been soiled. He argues that "the trip and moment was still great regardless of what happened afterwards," but I really don't see how he just can't understand where I'm coming from when I say I consider it a bad memory now.
Eh. :) Otherwise the other two I mentioned were some pretty great moments, where I felt on top of the world :) Also, holding babies and babysitting always makes me feel absolutely wonderful. I love children so much.
Back in January of 2003, the first day that Sydney, the older blind schnauzer girl I'd just adopted from the shelter, wiggled her nubby tail and her whole bottom and barked and barked cause she was happy to see me, her new mom. :) I miss her.
Ya know I've thought about this and I don't think I have one. I don't experience joy. I suppose coming through a particularly dangerous situation in the mountains with my motorcycle would be one, but that's likely more an adrenaline rush than "happiness".
I have those moments alot....usually the sun is shining and Mister is hanging around...:)
But...since you mentioned kids....when my niece Ashley told me out of the blue "Hey Sarah? I love you! You're my best friend!" and when Allie Baby gave me her first goofy grin this past weekend...

With Lois, it was more like 4 days later when I was finally aware of all that was going on. That day, I realized I had the perfect family. :D
