I just like the idea of listing what I'm thankful for, and this year, the list is long:
I'm thankful for...
...being able to be me
...my kids
...my friends
...my God
...my family
...my job
...writing
...being able to face the world with a smile, and not having it forced
But most of all, the one thing I'm proudest of, and the one thing I will defend, even though I don't defend the elected authorities, I'm proud of this land I live in.
I think Mr Shakespeare said it best:
This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
~ William Shakespeare - King Richard II. Act ii. Sc. 1.
