On The Road To Utopia

A small, safe, well-lit enclosed kind of community that's open for business 24 hours a day. All night diners, places to shop, clean, safe places for you to do your laundry, libraries for students to pull all-nighters in. People would both live and shop there, be able to pick up or drop off dry cleaning in the middle of the night or buy stamps... whatever we ordinarily need to do and everything is normal and sane regardless of what hour of the day or night it is.

I'm so elitist...

My Utopia is an island nation, which I get to be 'benevolent dictator' of... which has the one 'absolutely necessary' crop/product/item that enables us to trade with the rest of the world - but also enables us safety from the rest of the world (i.e. it can cannot be taken by force)
On the island are only people of my choosing.
They do what they will - but mostly, that consists of studying, theorizing, experimenting, writing, creating, playing... all the 'renaissance man' traits that are no longer rewarded in today's world.

I saw your journal through our mutual friend mjtheanarchist I like how you do all these polls and was wondering if we could be friends so I could get in on the fun?

My idea of utopia is a secluded cabin next to a lake that I could share with my closest friends. If we were hiding up there because of zombies overrunning the cities that would be cool too haha.
