My brother says Cisco is pissed because they came up with the concept AND the name "iPhone" in 1996 - long before there was an i-Anything. Apple usually wins these sorts of legal wranglings. I'm putting my money on Cisco for this one though.

The law is designed to protect commerce, not individuals or companies. If Cisco had a working product called iPhone, I could see a problem. But with it on a shelve, the veil of copyright protection is easy to break. I thinks.
...such is the opinion of someone who took one business law class 15 years ago. :)
