That depends on what the "things" are. Some "things" I can fix on my own. Some are beyond my capabilities. The trick is to know which is which.

I fix things myself. But there have been times when I had to concede a helping hand on the more delicately broken pieces, and see a professional.

Except for major plumbing, I can do nearly everything maintenance wise. The question is always will I do it within a reasonable time. If not, or if the wife sees through my assurances, I hire a pro.

I do try and fix things myself if I know how.

When I was younger I decided to fix myself and pulled my own teeth out. I had an appointment for the dentist to take them out but I was terrified of the needles they used!

I can tile!

I can paint!

I can fix and put cupboards together.

I know how to drain a radiator.

Cook! No need to go to a professional chef for that ;)

If I'm confident I can do it. I'll try before going to a professional.

Glad someone agrees with me! When I tell that story to people, they look at me funny and call me weird!
