I basicly can only control myself, and not even that well.
On a positive note, with my most sane self, I sometimes can control how I think or perceive a situation or I can control myself to do what I have to do, instead of what I want to do, at appropriate times.
Humanity is wired to find comfort within the daily routine for stability. We are cogs within the great clock of the cosmos. My job as a cog is to live my life and propel some small measure of insignificant history along. To do that, I am an animal geared for control - otherwise life would drive me insane. I must believe in my own power to get things done and impose control over my micro-environment.
When something comes along to remind me that I don't have control after all, then I have a natural biological reaction of freaking out until I have exerted my will so that I can wrap that comfy blanket of illusion to protect myself from the cold Monday morning that is Life.
A little bit of irony...after bragging that the only thing in my life i have control over is Joe, lol he kind of blew up this morning...I couldn't stop laughing while I was wiping coffee grinds off the counters and walls. So much for control.

Date: 2007-02-27 02:02 pm (UTC)Control is an illusion, a game people play with themselves and others.
The best we all can do is to say that we 'pretend' to control ourselves and our reactions to all the other things we have no control over...
Moonlight.

I find that one challenging at times... I can't even stop myself from taking on a slack jawed expression when I'm concentrating...

(Some are even listed there! *giggle*)
Your lady is as fortunate in you as you are in her!
(That was a 'moonlight-ism'...if it didn't make sense, that's okay - do not adjust your set.)
*smirk*
Moonlight.
