I don't.

I honour them on Remembrance Day and Anzac Day. :D

One minute of silence usually does it.

This year we participated in a flag placement ceremony at one of the vet cemetaries, cleaned our local vets' monument, and today we're marching in a parade.

Hmmmm.... sorta reminisce about how my hometown used to put on a parade and fireworks and some other festivities.. and they don't do that any longer. Lil fond memories of living in rural America when I grew up. And visiting family and cookouts... and listening to family members do THEIR own reminiscing.

since my hero.. my Dad is gone.. I am going to fly my kite.. because the day before he died.. he said he would always be there... to help...
My Dad was a tech sargeant in the 101st airborne division during the Korean war.. love ya Dad..

Perhaps I am a little bit bitter on this subject. My dad's father (who is buried in Arlington,VA) died before I ever got to meet him. He had served in the Korean War. And then there's my father's brother who did a couple of tours in Vietnam. And I got to spend all of the 80s watching him drinking and drugging and beating the crap out of his wife and kids because he couldn't handle life after war. And then I have to live with my hubby on a daily basis- and see how much war has screwed him up... the nightmares, the paranoia. When I think about holidays like this- it just gets me damned angry. Not at the ones who have served, of course- but angry at this pitiful thing we have as a government. Why is it necessary for this country to rush into every little scrimmage? I think this country (the USA) has grown way too large for its britches and it just makes me physically ill.

I am shutting up now. I will go enjoy the rest of the day with my crippled up husband and children!

In retrospect, everyone is right. We should all (including me) be more thankful- REGARDLESS if we agree on war or not!

This year I drove with my friend and her husband all day back from Charleston, South Carolina. We did take a bus tour so we saw some historic things there.

I don't do anything today that I don't do every day in rmemberance of those fallen and still serveing wether I agree with why they are serveing or not.
I was supposed to be working today but my doctor succedded in FUBARing that for me.
I'll be suprised if I have a job left after today.

I honestly don't do anything differently. I watch the news and do the one minute of silence but that's about it.
