The "how" is quite well known or understood I think. The "why", now that's a whole other ballgame so I would pick the "why" option here.

I've been obsessively asking myself both of those questions since i was 13 and it's come to my attention that the more my thought processes evolve, the more i don't need to know the answer to either. Neither the how nor the why are important. We simply are.

I think it's more important to ask why rather than how. I mean how has been theorised throughout the years via books and studies, philosophy and such.
