When discussing human existence, is it more important to ask how, or why?

The "how" is quite well known or understood I think. The "why", now that's a whole other ballgame so I would pick the "why" option here.

My gut instinct is to go with the 'why' option. However, it is early and I am not awake, so I'll think about it today.

This subject has been beat so severely in my mind, that the mutilated corpse is no longer recognizable as humankind's greatest search into the being of ourselves.

I've been obsessively asking myself both of those questions since i was 13 and it's come to my attention that the more my thought processes evolve, the more i don't need to know the answer to either. Neither the how nor the why are important. We simply are.

That's a bit deep for me.
I need questions like what is better - milk or dark chocolate!
Even that is hard - BOTH - I cant choose cause I love them both equally!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!

That's hilarious! The question is predicated on the notion that human existence is important to begin with! I knew you had a sense of humor, dude, but Christ! That's awesome!

What I find funny is that you called upon a deity in your answer :D

I don't recall mentioning plutonium...

(It's an obscure John Carpenter reference.)

Both are directly related to each other and therefore of equal importance.

You mean, it's better just not to ask?

I mean it's not necessary to know...we exist whether we question or not.

Well, with anything that you want to discuss - all questions are important. How, why, when, where, if - then again, you *know* that as a 'listener'. ;)

(I'm a little late, but well, you know how yesterday was.)

If I'm discussing religion with someone, then why.
If I'm discussing science with someone, then how.

And I'm not really interested in whether or not a question has been answered. Sometimes, it's just nice to ponder with another person.

well, for me it would be more important to ask why. it is my most favorite word in the english language, and i would much rather understand something than know it.

I think it's more important to ask why rather than how. I mean how has been theorised throughout the years via books and studies, philosophy and such.

I agree with you... The "why" is much more important.
