There is only need for armies and police under a capitalist society. If capitalism was overthrown, then the army would be put to use for cooperative purposes. No one would control them because

1. I'd have them dig mass graves.
2. I'd have them round up all the civilians.
3. I'd have them load their guns.
4. I'd have them all shoot themselves in the faces while the civilians watched.

Find a suitable plot of land with decent soil and a pretty view, preferably with a population that is either small, or pacifists, or both. Then I would attack ruthlessly and without remorse, killing anyone who would not surrender. After victory I would begin the framework for a workable society (there is no perfect society, the most you can hope for is one that works) with good border defenses and a diplomatic core made famous worldwide.

I also might make them train as an army of free-wheeling disco line dancers.
