Karma falls under the same heading as destiny and fate -- the idea that there is some force out there beyond our control that effects our lives.
Luck ... luck is tricky. What some people call luck, others label as God's intervention ("Wow. He got really lucky -- if that bullet had been a half-inch to the left he would have died. Someone must have been looking out for him"). So, how do we define luck? Good things that happen to you? That's completely arbitrary -- there is no definitive answer of what is "good" in a person's life. Take the lottery. A millionaire winning the lottery is no big deal, no one cares. But if a waitress were to win the same lottery, boy, did she get lucky! Me? When it comes to the lottery, it's not luck. It's picking the right numbers on the right day. It's a matter of choice
I rather like miracles. To take the bullet scenario, people would call it a miracle if the bullet pinged off of an electrical wire and missed a man's head by half an inch. A miracle! Wouldn't it be a miracle, still, if that bullet's course was altered, ever so slightly, so that it hit the man's head?
