Without love in one's life, of course it is useless. But even with love, who needs a special day to say it? Shouldn't you say it every day, with your very actions and words? Do we really need to spend an extra forty dollars for chocolate because some priest was martyred for going against the wishes of his order?
What it comes down to, in my mind, is that it sickens me that our society has come to the point where we need a special day to express our love.
In my opinion, the day is there to have fun, but if people treat it as a special day to express love, and don't express it at any other time, then they don't see love the way I do...
Please excuse my bluntness, my friend, for I know something of where your bitterness comes from, but letting it sway your opinions will be ultimately harmful for you.
I say this, because I care. I wouldn't dream of asking you to forget, but letting go of the bitterness can only be a good thing...
Not at all, my friend, not at all. But Valentines Day isn't a healthy day for an outcast child, period. Besides, I am bitter about a lot of things, one more from Valentines Day isn't going to signifigantly add to the clutter.
