It sounds cliche (mostly because it is):
Time heals all pain.

Eventually, it turns to a dull ache, and then to nothing.

It's whether or not you're willing to let it do what it needs to do to heal.

Time doesn't heal pain, other memories, newer ones, block it out.

All it can take is the right combination of sights, sounds, and scents, and the pain returns.
