Because nice guys are too quick to compromise, to be stand aside for others, to do the right thing, thnking, hoping everyone else would do the same in return, but unfortunatly in the self-centred, 'me, me, me' culture we live in this doesn't happen.
The nice guy does something wonderful, sacrificing and the arsehole gets ahead, because no one was there to see the nice person do their nice thing.
Can you tell I am bitter about this or what? *L* Nice people are treated shabbily in this world, it is appauling. Nice = Weak to many, how foolish. I try to practice 'Nice w/ an Edge', seems to balance out better. *L*
I just notice more and more how rude, inconsiderate and mean people have become, and how under valued the nice people in this world are. Things are so out of balance.
I don't mean to interrupt because I do agree 'the nice guy' gets the rough end of the stick .. but the sacrifices of which you speak of ... the 'nice guy' makes those of their own choice and therefore they should accept the consequences of those choices. No one asks them to sacrifice; they do so because they care so damn much.
But seriously, no matter how many hard knocks the nice guys of this world get and no matter how cynical or jaded, they still care. Because it's a part of them, who they are.
I just think we're all damaged to begin with. Sorry but that's the absolute truth of how I feel about people. It's what makes us human. It's what gives us compassion and makes us feel - the broken parts of us that understand and know pain. BUT yes some know and empathise more, are more caring, than others who are looking out for number one only.
