It depends on: a) how high a cost, b) the nature of the victory, and c) how many reasonable compromises you passed up on the way to getting things totally your own way.
(If the other side was the one being uncompromising and unreasonable, part of the victory was probably that they did not take a bigger chunk out of your hide!!!!)
