i don't drink it to wake up...it takes me an hour to get myself out of bed (if i'm lucky)...but i used to not have a problem with waking up early...it becomes a habit...i can't sleep till too late anyway :P
I actually don't hate Mondays that much. I generally feel pretty revived, have a strong starting attitude on Monday.. that mood tends to go down by Wednesday.
Thursdays are the best days because you don't have high expectations for that day but it's still reeeeeally really close to Friday.
With my over-sized pirate mug full of coffee. Mr. Bill has a silly song about "coffee in the pirate mug!" that is very annoying first thing in the morning, but his singing it helps me to get my "I won't say mean things" functions on line before I go to work, which is good.
There's always a sense of impending doom right before the alarm goes off. I start to weep in my semi-conscious fog because I know what's coming. The alarm clock is attached to a mechanical device that sprays tear gas into my face then drops a hot, wet cloth onto my face, so I wake up screaming. This then startles the wolf that's protecting her cubs next to me in the most pejorative way imaginable. I run blinded and screaming across the room trying not to crush any more of the empty beer bottles strewn across the floor while avoiding the hooks that dangle from chains in the ceiling-
Then the alarm really wakes me up to rock music. I shut it off, get out of bed and shower. I make the coffee and wake up Nan.
I treat Mondays as any other day. Get up, grab a Dew and a cigarette, then shower. There, I am awake. On the rare occasion that my Monday is a Monday, I pretty much just loaf around and let other people get me going for me, by being annoying and lazy. Then my Monday goes fine, and everyone else's is shitty. You ask, "How does he survive that way without someone killing him?" I become so likeable and charming to my coworkers that none of them think of getting rid of me. Give me two months in a work place and I am as essential as wheels on a car, but as useful as hen shit on a pump handle.
Wake up to the sound of the baby crying at 5PM because she is sick of being in the crib by herself and she wants to play.
Groggily try to figure out a way to stall her so I can get another few hours of sleep, before I realize that it is Monday and the hand of doom is upon us.
Leave the baby crying in the crib while I jump in the shower and then frantically run around trying to get ready.
Go to feed the baby only to find out she has gotten tired of waiting and has gone back to sleep. ... She is sooooo cute when she is sleeping that I hate to wake her, especially since by now I don't have any time to play with her, I just have to feed her quick and get her dressed and in her car seat.
Realize as Bryan has the baby in the car seat and is heading out the door that I have not yet eaten breakfast or made lunch, and run around frantically trying to throw something together that I can eat in the car. (Thankfully, it has only happened once that I have not remembered before leaving the house. Fortunately that time I was able to scrounge some spare change out of the seat of the car and get a bag of peanuts out of the vending machine at work).
In other words, Monday is just like any other day.
[Actually, I generally find Tuesdays to be worse. On Sunday night, you know Monday is coming and you kind of anticipate it, but on Monday night, you are still not entirely weaned off weekend time, so you accidentally stay up three hours later than you meant to, then wake up half an hour late having totally slept through the alarm, with the sudden realization that today is trash day, or your turn to bring in snacks for work, or you're out of milk/bread/peanut butter/toothpaste, or the car is out of gas, etc., etc., and the whole day is downhill from there. Fridays generally suck, too, but my vote is for Tuesday as being "Let's not even get out of bed today" Day.]
Yup. Tell me about it. Although now that I have twice as much to do in the morning -- feed, change, dress and play with the baby, I have less time to do it in. I have to leave the house at 7 for my new job, while the job I had before the baby I did not have to leave the house until 8:30. That would have made things a little less stressful. I would still be getting up with her at the same time in the morning, but I could get her played with and wound down a little, rather than plopping her in a car seat while she is still restless and raring to go because she hasn't had her floor time for the day, yet.
