Umm... moving here to Phoenix. We came out here with no job for me lined up and with him already signed up for school. We lived the first couple of months on our credit cards. Then I went through a series of temp jobs. We were broke for the whole time he was in school.

But it's really paid off. He's got his degree and a good job and I've grown up a lot more than I ever would have at home with my safety net. :)

I've spent my life taking risks. I hesitate to name any one as bigger than another. Usually it feels like whatever risk I'm currently embroiled in is the biggest.

My more cerebral answer is: learning to trust and letting people into my life again.

Oh Gawd. I need some direction here! Do you mean stupid thrill risk, or gutsy growing risk?

Stupid risk- has to do with a back room of a bar.
I'll spare you the details.

Gutsy risk- Combining my last name with my partner's.

I moved to the US from Canada, to get a law degree that I can't use to practice law in Canada, without any kind of guarantee that I'd be legally able to work in the US at the end.

and it's working itself out, just like I'd blindly hoped.

well, it was mid-winter back in ought-2, and a few of us were sitting around the office. there was some cocaine involved; i'm not going to lie. we'd snorted our way through an 8-ball of the finest booger sugar colombia has to offer, and polished off a case of maker's mark. the world was my oyster, and i was definitely not allergic to shellfish. george looked at me and said, "waddaya think, can we do it?" i looke him right square and said, "do it, georgie; we'll be greeted as fucking liberators." and that's how i got us in the iraq war. that one backfired. so, uh, my bad.

Oh man, so many major ones... I'll stick to a few relatively recent ones:

* Marrying a man I met on the Internets! LOL

* Moving across the country with nothing but what we could cram in the trunk of the car.

* Defying logic and all rational thought to follow an intuition I didn't understand.

So far, they have all worked out - knock on wood!

Going to sleep every night, and getting up every morning.

And then there was the time I rode in a plastic garbage bag down the side if a small glacier at Heather Lake. Or Zack and I running below burning trees when the fire crowned (although that wasn't a risk "taken" so much as a risk "unavoidable"). There was the time my friends and I ran and hit from the cops in The Odd Fellows Cemetary, or the other time with different friends on Sleepy Hollow Road in Wenatchee when I outran them and then wheeled into an orchard with my lights off in a minivan until they passed by two more times.
Or Ben and my races back to his house on four wheelers in a dry colvert.
Cliff jumping into mostly known waters.
Pretty much anytime I climb onto a horse at dad's bequest.
Falling in love is a major risk, too.
So was running booze and other things over the Canadian border with Tabetha when we were younger.

Can't say as I've ever really taken any big risks. I don't consider marriage a risk .. or cohabitating with a partner. Those are just ... parts of life and growing up to me. I suppose there are risks involved but nothing big for me.

I'm not a gambler but I have a pretty good poker face. :)
