that's a tricky one... it's very contextual and very personal... and I've seldom met 2 people with the same definiton of it...

but I'll give it a go.

Honor when it refers to a personality trait is maintaining your actions and your words to a high and positive moral level - based on what is 'right' rather than what is 'best for oneself.'

It extends to things like keeping one's word, behaving in a manner that doesn't bring disgrace to oneself or anyone else, and living up to one's moral obligations.

We can 'honor' someone else by holding them in high regard and celebrating them - but one can only dishonor oneself, in my book. (Although I know others who believe otherwise.)

Honor is about taking a right action even when to do so doesn't benefit oneself - or worse, costs one dearly - simply because it's the right thing to do.

Now please don't ask me about "right" because that's even trickier and more subjective.
