1) the ability to admit when they're wrong 2) the ability to believe that they can be wrong and therefore look more than once at a situation 3) the ability to say "I don't know" when faced with the overwhelming urge to impress someone else by knowing something 4) the ability to know the difference between "honesty" and "cruelty through honesty" and to know when to say something and when to shut the hell up
