What would I wear? Probably my jeans, (as always) flat shoes, a nice gypsy blouse/top.
Where would I go? If it were my choice, I'd repeat one of the nicest "dates" I've ever had - coffee all afternoon in an arty but smoke-free cafe, talking about poetry and art, then on to a candlelit Spanish Tapas restaurant for a mixed platter to share between us.
*excuse me while I wistfully reminisce the greatest romance I let slip through my fingers...*
He and I are still in touch - both famed for disasterous relationships that emotionally tear us to bits, we always fall back together when we need support, love and hugs.
Why didn't we stay together? Cause we're a pair of nitwits who procrastinate and conceptualise worst case scenarios.
My kilt, Metallica T-shirt, hat, vest or coat (both black leather), and my bracers. We would probably go someplace where we can smoke and have a decent conversation. Basically, this: (http://photobucket.com)
Sorry about the finger. It's one of the hazards of people with cameras pointed at me.
I haven't actually ever had a first date. So, I can't draw from experience for this answer. As for what I'd like to do on a first date? Myself, I'd like to go to a museum then a coffee shop where we could sit and talk about the things we saw at a museum. That way there's no pressure to leave and I don't have to eat in front of someone I don't know that well - which is what happens if you go for a meal. ;)
I would wear black and something that shows my cleavage! Silver accents for my jewelry. I would want to go out to a nice dinner somewhere and maybe catch a movie after or a walk in a park if the weather permits.
The clothes I got married in (i.e. everyday 10 years old or there about thing - i.e. something comfortable) and walk around a lot. If the date can follow and contribute to the walk being nicer than doing that again might just be worthwhile. Having said that... I am not so sure I've ever had a first date.
Not as such as meeting a virtual stranger. I've always known the guys I was going out with so there was never that "being/putting on trial" feel to the things.
I've had blind dates with LJ friends, though... That was nice.
It would depend on where I was at the time. I like to go see the sights, usually, or a play, or dinner, or hiking, or any combination. So what I would wear would depend on the activity. But I guess that was the point of your question, non? :D I guess it really depends on how well I know the person to start with. If it is a fairly new person, I would want a little bit of buffer in case conversation has to be eased into, so that may be an outdoor event kind of date. But someone I already know, I will be going out with him or her because I already know we can talk and I like being around that person, so just about anything would be fun.
I love to go hiking. I haven't done much hiking since I started school though. In fact, I think I have gone hiking 3 times in the past 3 years. Bah! No wonder I feel blah!!!
Oh I am always game for dinner or lunch. But I like interacting with people in different contexts because you get a better understanding of who they are, if that makes sense. And I like to do things where you don't have a waitstaff urging you out the door, because if conversation is going great, then you have that awkward, "so where can we go to keep talking where we aren't going to get kicked out?"
I'd wear something nice but something that felt natural. I'd go for a nice blouse with jeans, myself. I'd top it off with my fave pair of boots. Nothing too snazzy but something that says I care that I look nice for this.
Where to go? Personally, movie and a dinner is always fun.
I came up with a thousand funnier things to write, but jeans and long sleeved dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up would be the answer, and a restaurant that I knew wouldn't toss us out before a few hours had passed, in case the conversation deepened.
Oh yeah, I would dress casually. Jeans and my nice top... but nothing so restrictive that I couldn't be comfortable. And definitely nothing slutty... I would reserve that for a later date! *grins*
I would take my first date somewhere fun. I love to do all sorts of things: hiking, sightseeing, amusement parks. I would definitely wouldn't want a date that was just sitting around schmoozing a dinner table or sitting quietly in a darkened theatre. We'd have to go somewhere that we could interact with each other in a non-sexual weird date atmosphere. I dunno- billiards, bowling, a nice outdoors spot to hike or go fishing. Hell, GO CARTS ARE AN AWESOME WAY TO HANG OUT! There would be plenty of laughter, friendly chat and playful banter. I would want my date to leave feeling refreshed and wanting more!
Maybe I'm a little tom boyish that way... but that's just me! :p I'm not into that artsy fartsy wining and dining stuff. Well, at least not on a first date. Definitely would do something like that after we've been dating for a while-- you know, a more intimate atmosphere.
well, the best bra's and panties victoria's secret has to offer... but somehow i don't think that would be a good idea for you... ha, that's a tough question. i've never actually been on a first date.
That would all have to depend on my date and/or what she was into! If she's a sports fan, a hockey or baseball game. If she's into movies, just do the casual thing... I think there are just way too many variables to answer in a general sense.
Clothing should suit the intended date. If hiking is on the agenda, hiking boots and jeans. If dinner at a trendy bistro, then GQ casual. Picnic in the park, jeans and a high quality t-shirt. Always try to pick clothing that is nice to the touch. If you plan to hit up a S&M club, go black, leather, and studded :-). Always remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression ... so ... no pressure, but don't screw it up!
If you end up going to a Halloween Haunted House or party and a costume is in order, pick something that reflects what you want to project ... pirate (I'm swashbuckling rogue ... good in bed, but weak on child support), vampire (sexy, but needy), and so on ;-)
