Comraderie based on commiseration, I think. You get to relive and re-express old pains and hurts as a form of attention. Which is usually the point of the initial contact - getting attention.
All snarking aside, I think it is very hard to totally avoid conflict. In many respects, avoiding drama is good, but to avoid all conflict at all costs leaves one with a pathological fear of pushing back against what is wrong.
I am sorry that there were people who misinterpreted friendly comments as something more than what it was. I think the real question is "Why do people feel the need to CREATE conflict where there was non to start with?"
I think the answer to that is boredom and diverting/attracting attention.
Animal instincts and nature. Now brought to an abstract level under the thin veil of civilisation!
Monkeys love to organize in social groups, fight for hierarchy within their groups, and then compete against other groups for supremacy and genetic survival.
Nothing has changed all that much during the course of evolution.
I think a lot of it is people don't necessarily like conflict but are forced into it in order to stand up for themselves because there is no one viewpoint and we are not robots. People are bound to clash naturally.

You know that you should avoid. But you can't and you don't like yourself for noticing. But again, you can't seem to stop yourself.
That's the best way I can explain it.
Hope that you and yours are doing all right, that things are going okay, and that today goes all right for you all.
Hugs. *HG*
God bless and take care. :).

It's how we relate to almost all situations.
