More people are dying, and more battles are being fought.

We have so much capacity for giving, either for the Tsunami, Katrina, Bombings, or the Earthquake. But then, our leaders have such a capacity for killing.

Maybe if we got rid of the leaders...

How would life work without government?

There are theories, but my favourite would be that all people would be able to come to agreements for defence, and that people would not, in general, want to hurt each other.

But maybe that's a little idealistic.

You've lost sight of humanity, my friend, in all the hubris.
Humanity is the only race on the planet that can be persuaded to shoot itself in the foot. And more power too it. If the leaders were suddenly gone, more would rise in their places, and they may not be better ones, just stronger, or more ruthless. If you took government away, I can gaurantee there would be total chaos in some places, namely the ones where leaders did not rise up quickly to gain power. I know this, because I would be sowing chaos and discord, and I know that I am not the only one.

You're not as bad as you make out to be, my friend... :)

Perhaps, but if society collapses, believe you me, I will be forging my own kingdom from the fire and ashes, and the best way to do that is to keep things in controlled chaos until I gain more power.

I'd rather a controlled and voluntary collapse of government, but a preservation of society...

You can rather have that all you want to, but humanity doesn't work that way. We are not, by nature, peaceful creatures.

If it weren't for war, we'd all likely be living in caves.

:D

And don't you go changing!

For change to occur there must needs be room for growth. Mine is an empty world, with no soil, no water, no light, and no where to grow. I am content to hunch upon this rocky soil, however. From here I shall watch the world burn.

Change is the only constant.

And you're so filled with talent, that you cannot be empty...

Did I say I was? No, the world around me is.
Change cannot be constant, because then change would have to change, and it would inevitably change into not-changing, thus denying the "constant" factor.
Basically, saying "Change is constant", especially to say it is the only constant is a logical fallacy, at worst, and an empty philosophic noise, at the least.
I apologize. I've just despised that catchy little phrase for some time now.

It's not twisted around. It's just looking at things from a different direction. Everything has another way of looking at it.

Idealistic, maybe, but also acutely intelligent.

Acutely intelligent?

It's not every day that I get random compliments, so thanks :)

I guess it depends on how many idealists there are...
