Give me a line to start a poem with, but, the deal you make, is to write another poem in response, taking the last line from mine as your first line.

Be brave... writing doesn't hurt a bit...

It was surely grief that lingered there
In the darkness she hid so well
Only the practiced eye could seee
The slightest crack in every smile

The slightest crack in every smile?
This is what you give me to work with?
lol...

Hm.

The slightest crack in every smile,
the tremble in her hands,
the tears lying just below the surface of her glance,
she turns,
he speaks,
she laughs,
and the laughter falls like
crystal shards upon marble.

They fool no one,
and are fooled by none.

Though the unspoken
heartbreak lies bleeding
on the floor amidst
their dancing feet
for all to see...

The dance and the masquerade
both go on.

Both go on
each circling the other
maintaining their distance
playing their game
Seeing each other
and their similarities
Yet never breaking through
The invisible wall
