Around Christmas one year the Nutcracker Suite started playing and I had to perform the whole thing, (which is really really hard as there are many parts, and I haven't formally done ballet in years,) for my roommate... who nearly died laughing.
Yeah, the Nutcracker is fun. I have read that Tchaikovsky actually hated it, thought it was his worst work. Of course, it's also his most famous and arguably his most beloved work. Goes to show you never can tell what the audience will love, I guess. Tchaikovsky's sacred music is absolutely stunning, but not as dance-able. :)
